The Bachelor Rome - Finale

Finally, it's the show we've all been waiting for! Who will Lorenzo pick? The G&S Girls cast their votes early. They both think Lorenzo should pick the Virgin. Nothing against Jen, but the Virgin just seems way more into all of this than she does. Jen seems like she'd be fine if she's not the big winner, but the Virgin seems to have her heart set on Lorenzo.

We see the Virgin writing in her diary, then pictures of her as a child. She was very cute. She says she's an
"innocent, good girl" and goes on to say more about saving herself. Yeah, yeah. Enough of that, already. They cut to a montage of her dates with Lorenzo. And the kissing. Ew.

Then they show Jen and her childhood photos. Strangely, she looks exactly like the Virgin! That's odd. Date montage and kissing for her, too. And nausea for the G&S Girls once again.

Cut to Lorenzo hanging on a balcony. He is pensive and has flat hair. Get hairapy, Lorenzo! He has angst about his big decision. Lorenzo, don't worry too much. Anyone who's seen the show knows that it's very unlikely that you'll actually end up dating the girl you choose. Flip a coin!

Lorenzo's parents say they will help him decide. Mama Lorenzo seems more than a little overbearing. Papa Lorenzo doesn't seem to get many words in.

"Dad stopped talking years ago," Shakira opines.

Mama Lorenzo informs him that she is having an engagement ring designed for him. Wow, that's...scary. And bodes so well for his future bride! That girl is in BIG trouble.

The girls get to meet Lorenzo's parents. First up is Jen. Papa Lorenzo asks her why she likes his son. Good question! She says that when she looks at him she sees someone she could end up with. After a few weeks? The G&S Girls are skeptical.

"It was always hard for me to tell if I'd want to spend another evening with someone in that time period." Gigi says, "These girls are already writing their first names with his last names in loopy cursive on their notebooks!"

Lorenzo says that Jen is independent and funny and has all of the qualities he's looking for.

Mama Lorenzo asks Jen how she is different from the Virgin. Jen thinks she is more straightforward and tougher. She says that the Virgin is more subtle. Hmm...that sounds like a polite way of saying that Virgin is kind of boring. Good work, Jen.

The parents seem to like her.

Mama Lorenzo is just full of surprises! Seems that she is a palm reader in her spare time. She reads Jen's palm and sees marriage, kids and an open road ahead. Mama is pleased.

Time for the Virgin to meet the parents! She is asked what she likes about Lorenzo. The Virgin thinks he has layers! He's interesting, witty and fun. She's talking about Lorenzo? From the Bachelor? The Virgin tells them she is a strong woman, but she wants a man who is a little stronger. She's still talking about Lorenzo?

Mama Lorenzo asks the Virgin how she is different from Jen. The Virgin thinks that she is spunkier and that Jen is more reserved. Heh...that's pretty similar to what Jen said about her.

Mama reads the Virgin's palm next. Apparently she sees that the Virgin let's her head rule her heart, where Jen lets her hear rule her head. The Virgin takes this opportunity to tell Mama Lorenzo all about how she's saving herself. Mama is pleased about that.

In the end, Mama says that she loves both of the ladies. She'd take either as a daughter-in-law. Looks like they've passed the buck back to Lorenzo!

Cut to Jen's hotel where here parents have shown up. Surprise! Dad says that Jen will be really excited to see them - and sure enough, she's thrilled. She jumps up and down and squeals.

Dad asks her if she really wants this and Jen says yes...but somehow it seems unconvincing. The G&S Girls just don't feel it from her.

The Virgin's parents arrive and she too is beside herself with glee.

So they are all going to meet up at the castle for brunch - but the girls don't know that they with BOTH be there with their families. Uh...that is a really stupid idea. It is just going to be uncomfortable and awkward for everyone. Apparently Mama Lorenzo came up with this brilliant plan.

Jen's dad says he's afraid of making an ass out of himself in front of the royalty. Hee! They go in and meet Lorenzo's parents.

The Virgin arrives with her parents and is absolutely horrified to see Jen. She can't hide it. They all look pretty shocked. It is such a dumb, contrived situation. The girls' parents all seem totally freaked out.

Papa Lorenzo makes a toast in Italian. Why didn't he teach Lorenzo some of that Italian so he didn't look like a jackass on the show?

Jen's dad makes some joke about Jen and Lorenzo's anniversary and how they'll all be talking about how nice the Virgin and her family were. Jen sinks down in her seat with embarrassment, while the Virgin gets ENRAGED. She shoots daggers at Jen's dad with her eyes.

Lorenzo has an awkward talk with both of the ladies on the couch. The Virgin seems jealous and annoyed, while Jen seems embarrassed.

The next scene is Lorenzo going to see Jen's dad. He says, "If I were to propose, would you give me your blessing?" Dad stares at him for a looooong time. Finally he says that if Lorenzo's feelings are true, it would be ok with him. But he thinks Lorenzo would be very lucky to get Jen and wants him to know that.

Jen and her mom have a talk. Jen thinks that Lorenzo has "husband" written all over him. Hmmm...the G&S Girls read "dork" all over Lorenzo, but clearly the writing is in the eye of the beholder. Mom just laughs...possibly she saw the same thing as the G&S Girls.

Dad comes in and informs Jen that Lorenzo asked for her hand in marriage. Hopefully Jen knows he's going to ask the same thing of the Virgin's dad. It would be pretty sad if they both thought this meant they were definitely the one!

Cut to the scene where Lorenzo is asking the Virgin's dad the big question. He gets a much warmer reception from this dad. Yeah...this guy doesn't seem quite as dangerous as Jen's gun-toting daddy.

The Virgin's dad immediately tells her about Lorenzo's question. She seems overjoyed! AACK! She is totally going to be crushed if she doesn't get the proposal.

Each girl has one last date with Lorenzo.

The Virgin and Lorenzo are going sailing. Lorenzo tells her he's wearing his sailing outfit. Dork. They kiss on the boat. Lorenzo says he "has a sense of peace."

They go for a romantic dinner with champagne. Mmmm. The Virgin toasts Lorenzo. She tells him thank you fo all of the good times. Then she gives him a scrapbook that she made for him. Eeek. She includes her list about what she is looking for in a guy, which the G&S Girls highly endorse. It is good to have criteria for your men. Otherwise you never know if they are measuring up. A girl needs standards!

The G&S Girls feel scared for the Virgin. She is so naive. She also seems to think she's really in love. Maybe she is in love. The Girls think Jen would be fine if Lorenzo gave her the boot, but it would be much harder for the Virgin.

Jen and Lorenzo's date features horseback riding, then grilling. Horseburger, anyone? Mmm. This does not seem like a very romantic date.

Jen informs Lorenzo that she could really see herself in New York. She tells him she hopes he picks her and that they make it work.

Lorenzo seems off even for Lorenzo. It's like he's distracted and sad. The Girls wonder which one he's feeling sad about.

Lorenzo leaves that night and tells the camera that he just doesn't know who he'll pick. He goes and gets the huge ring. He looks at it and says he could give it to either girl. Uh-oh.

Finally it's the next day and it's go time! First up, The Virgin. Lorenzo has a long talk with her. He knew he had feelings for her after the flying date. He thinks she's great. He loved the scrapbook....but...in the letter she gave him, she said she wanted a guy who couldn't fathom being with another woman...and there IS another woman....and he'd rather be with her. OUCH!!!!!!! Damn. Maybe that sounded better in his head. To the G&S Girls it sounds kinda brutal.

The Virgin handles it well, though. She tells Lorenzo she hopes he'll be happy. She says she feels foolish.

"Dude, haven't we all been THERE!" Gigi commiserates.

Lorenzo tells her not to feel foolish and then she leaves. She cries quietly in the limo. It's really kind of heartbreaking, even though it's such a cheesy contrived show. Poor Virgin!!!

The G&S Girls think that Lorenzo has made a big mistake. They like Jen, but the Virgin just seemed like a better match.

Oh well... On to the proposal! Arrival of Jen. She looks really pretty in a gorgeous dress, unlike the way Gigi looked for her proposal in yoga pants and a dirty t-shirt. But Gigi has inner beauty.

Lorenzo starts his speech. His wish at the fountain was that he's know he made the right decision when the time came. He feels like he is doing that. He reaches in his pocket for the ring. Jen looks like she's about to faint or pee her pants.

He tells her about how his mom designed the ring.

"RUN JEN, RUN!!!" yell the G&S Girls.

But Jen does not run. Lorenzo tells her he can't ask her to marry him yet. He wants to see how he feels out of Italy and in the real world. Then he tells her he loves her. Wow. Jen accepts the ring and the rose. Kissing. Ew.

So the question is: Will this last?
